The Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) expressed full and unconditional support for the Second Vice President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, regarding the process lawsuit submitted to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Hague against the Republic of France.

The PDGE welcomed the opportunity to defend the Republic before the ICJ, an institution that treats matters with due process and the necessary objectivity and impartiality.

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea submitted the process lawsuit to the ICJ against France for the controversy created by the National Financial Prosecuting Authority of France (PNF) against the Mr. Nguema Obiang. Equatorial Guinea stated that the procedure by the PNF constitutes an attack against the immunity of Mr. Nguema Obiang, who has the right under international law to which French courts have refused.

In detail, the PDGE expressed the support the Second Vice President of the Republic, Head of Defense and State Security, and National President of the Federation of Youth, against international instigations.

The PDGE highlighted the improbable situation in which a court in Equatorial Guinea or any nation in Africa could indict a French Vice President. That a court outside Equatorial Guinea could judge a high-level representative of the Republic is interfering with the sovereign nature of the Republic.

The PDGE also expressed support for the legal representatives of Equatorial Guinea in defending the interests of the Republic before the ICJ.

The PDGE expressed gratitude to the UCJ for admitting the process and hopes that such an important issue between two countries will be treated with neutral objectivity and impartiality necessary to respect the sovereignty of two nations in litigation.

The issue of sovereignty and non-interference in the affairs of another nation is one of the basic pillars of independence and freedom, which Equatorial Guinea fully supports.
