The Republic of Equatorial Guinea Ambassador to the United States, Miguel Ntutumu Evuna Andeme discussed areas of mutual cooperation between Equatorial Guinea and the United States on a recent meeting with Deputy Assistant Secretary for Central Affairs and Security Affairs for the Bureau of African Affairs at the State Department, Stephanie Sullivan and State Department official responsible for Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon, Kelly Tucker.
The Ambassador met with State Department officials to talk about maritime security in the sub region, preventative policies against terrorism, and African policies under the new administration, as part of the government efforts to strengthened relations with the United States.
The Ambassador expressed the will of the Equatorial Guinean government for greater cooperation with the U.S. government in order to achieve further economic diversification with integration of US companies in Equatorial Guinea.
Sullivan highlighted support for the development of democracy in Equatorial Guinea, the elimination of the trafficking of persons, and the opening of dialogue to resolve issues of common interest.
The Ambassador also presented Sullivan with a letter of congratulations in the name of the government of Equatorial Guinea on the recent confirmation of Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.
