Equatorial Guinea Receives Key Backing for UN Security Council Position, Gains Support of UN Member Countries

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea received key backing for the non-permanent seat on the United Nations (UN) Security Council from Germany, Morocco, and the Latin America bloc.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Agapito Mba Mokuy, met with the German Ambassador the Equatorial Guinea to discuss their support of Equatorial Guinea to the Security Council, and highlighted bilateral interests including the reform of the Security Council to reflect the current composition of the world.

The Kingdom of Morocco expressed unconditional support for Equatorial Guinea as well, in a diplomatic note issued by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to the Equatorial Guinea Embassy in Rabat.

The President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, HE Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, has excellent dealings with the King of Morocco, His Majesty Mohammed VI.

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea to the UN, Anatolio Ndong Mba, met with the Latin America bloc at the Permanent Mission in New York last week. The group expressed their support of Equatorial Guinea for the position on the Security Council, citing good relations as well as the linguistic ties between countries.

The show of support highlights the strong relations between Equatorial Guinea and countries all over the world.
