The Republic of Equatorial Guinea highlighted the importance of democracy and good governance at the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) seminar.
The EITI General Secretary in Equatorial Guinea, representing the Minister for Mines and Hydrocarbons, Gabriel Mbega Obiang Lima, emphasized Equatorial Guinea support of the transparency initiative through the promotion and coordination of regional exchanges.
High-level officials from the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) and Gabon attended the seminar.
The seminar trained members of civil society organizations to learn the tools and mechanisms for internal handling transparency, mission effectiveness, and development of sustainable governance in the extractive sector.
The seminar was held at the Sofitel Hotel in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, where the country has hosted international gatherings in the past.
