The Republic of Equatorial Guinea strengthened its tourism sector with the participation of the Minister of Tourism, Tomás Mecheba Fernández Galilea, at the VI World Forum on Tourism Economy (GTEF) in Macao.
The Forum focused on the construction of improved dialogue and collaboration between nations and regions to further develop the tourism industry.
The Forum was attended by more than 130 delegations, including ministers, leaders of internationally renowned corporations, industry experts, and international academics, among others including the Vice President of the National Tourism Administration of China (CNTA), the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and the Honorary President of the AWG.
The Minister also attended 2017 World Tourism Day in Doha, Qatar, an event which focused on the potential of sustainable tourism as a development tool of the overall industry.
The Day was attended by the Secretary of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the President of the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), among other ministers of tourism, businesspeople, and academics.
Equatorial Guinea has a robust tourism sector and has hosted international conferences, delegations, and sporting events at its world-class facilities. The expansion of tourism opportunities in Equatorial Guinea will further expand the large sector.
Equatorial Guinea was elected to the Executive Board of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) earlier this year.
