The Republic of Equatorial Guinea, through its Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations, Anatolio Ndong Mba, welcomed the resolution for the ceasefire in Syria this week by the UN Security Council.

The Security Council, of which Equatorial Guinea is a non-permanent member, voted unanimously to adopt the resolution in an effort to reduce violence in Syria so humanitarian aid could reach the impacted population in the coming days.

Equatorial Guinea highlighted the importance of urgent action and dialogue to resolve the ongoing crisis in Syria. Equatorial Guinea called on the larger United Nations to do everything in its power as an intergovernmental body to save the lives of Syrians caught in the conflict.

Equatorial Guinea called for mechanisms for peace and dialogue between Israel and Palestine to solve the ongoing disagreement between the two in the Middle East. The Ambassador called for both parties to moderate their actions and refrain from further violence, which may further aggravate the situation. The Ambassador highlighted the support of the Government of Equatorial Guinea, led by the President, HE Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, to negotiate a lasting solution to the conflict.

Equatorial Guinea has been an active member of the Security Council and is dedicated to peaceful and sustainable development in the world.
