The Director General of the National Institute of Statistics (INEGE) of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea participated in the 49thSession of the United Nations (UN) Statistical Committee to improve the indicators for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Equatorial Guinea is committed to actively participate in sustainable development efforts and initiatives to promote social and economic development in the country, the African continent, and globally.
The Director General highlighted the importance of data and indicators to support the 2030 Agenda, statistical manual, household surveys, development of regional statistics, environmental and economic accounting, natural resources measurements, agriculture and rural strategies, labor and employment figures, climate change, and disability.
The Director General signed an extension of the technical cooperation agreement between the INEGE and the Institute of Statistics and Informatics of Peru to share experiences in the fields of accounting and households.
Equatorial Guinea is active at the UN and, as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, has promoted national and regional commitments to the intergovernmental body.
