The Republic of Equatorial Guinea this week ratified its commitment to promote policies favoring youth during a special session of the United Nations (UN) Security Council.

Equatorial Guinea highlighted the importance of inter-generational dialogue and that the youth constitute an indispensable faction in the culture of worldwide peace.

Equatorial Guinea has long led Africa and the world in promoting youth for peace and security. Equatorial Guinea held the first National Youth Conference in 2010, by which the country adopted a number of national policies to facilitate political, economic, social, and cultural rights for young people.

Policies included study grant systems at national and international levels, access to appropriate housing, and initiatives to create employment, in line with the country’s Horizon 2020 sustainable development plan.

Equatorial Guinea is active at the UN and, as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, has called for a peaceful resolution to the Yemen conflict, mechanisms for peace in the Middle East, and protection of vital infrastructures against terrorist attacks, among many other issues.

Equatorial Guinea is committed to peaceful and sustainable development in the world.
