Equatorial Guinea Supports Free Press

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea, through its Minister for Information, Press, and Radio, Eugenio Nze Obiang, highlighted its support for free press and media to mark International Free Press Day this week.

The Minister met with members of the media, including the main state and private journalistic enterprises, to outline the great emphasis the Government places on press freedom.

The Minister said the Government would not spare any efforts to support the media, including the introduction of subsidies to maintain their fiscal solvency, as well as training and education of media personnel.

The Minister also outlined that the Government has raised awareness among the various ministerial departments to proactively share information with the media and strengthen relations.

Equatorial Guinea has made great strides over the years under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Obaing Nguema Mbasogo, Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE). PDGE is committed to freedom of the press, movement within the country, national political dialogue, and of women.


PDGE has also achieved major accomplishments recently, in infrastructure, investment in education,the construction of two universities for the first time in the country’s history; housing renovations; the construction of social housing; and new water and light systems.
