The President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, HE Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, was recognized by the International Civil Aircraft Organization (ICAO) for Equatorial Guinea’s aviation safety, leadership, and compliance.

The ICAO recognized Equatorial Guinea as the leader in aviation in Central Africa region for its continued investment and development.

The ICAO awards certificates of recognition for continuous implementation of the standards and practices established by the institution, all within the framework of the universal program of safety surveillance audits.

Equatorial Guinea has continually invested in its aviation and transportation sectors. The Government has improved the national aviation services through personnel training through international and sub-regional forums, hosting the third African Summit on Air Safety and Navigation, and active participation before the ICAO in Montreal, Canada.

The Government has also extensively trained pilots, air traffic controllers, mechanics, technicians, and engineers, in addition to reforming the General Law on Civil Aviation, creating the Accident Investigation Commission, and implementing a national program for aviation operation security.
