Equatorial Guinea Strengthens Bilateral Relations with China

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea strengthened bilateral relations with the People’s Republic of China during the recent China-Africa Think Tank Forum in Beijing.

Equatorial Guinea and China enjoy strong ties, particularly in regards to education and cultural exchange, as well as commercial investment. The two have mutual areas of cooperation including tourism, good governance, sustainable development, and trade.

Equatorial Guinea and China recently agreed to establish a free trade zone between the two countries to promote the freedom and ease of trade and investment for the mutual gain of both countries.

Cooperation between Africa and China has strengthened over the last forty years. In regards to commercial investment, as China invests more than 110 billion in the continent.
China has opened more than 80 secondary schools and China and Africa have hosted more than 100 events and 200 projects in regards to sociocultural development.

In regards to security, Africa works in partnership with China with more than two thousand blue helmets in five United Nations (UN) operations for peace-keeping on the continent.


The President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, HE Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, is set to attend the upcoming III Summit of FOCAC Heads of State, which will take place in Beijing later in the year.
