The Republic of Equatorial Guinea, through the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Artisanal Promotion, Rufino Ndong Esono Nchama, further strengthened the country’s hospitality and tourism industry at the recent graduation of the National School of Hospitality and Tourism of the Economic and Monetary Commission of Central Africa (CEMAC).

The Minister highlighted the importance of developing the country’s tourism offerings and destinations, under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, HE Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, in an effort to diversify the economy.

The Equatoguinean graduates, along with colleagues from six other CEMAC countries, studied marketing and hotel management, travel agency operations, conditioning and management of tourist destinations, and sales of tourist offerings.

Equatorial Guinea recently met with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to strengthen its ecotourism offerings.

Equatorial Guinea is set to further expand tourism opportunities with the development of first-class tourist experiences for national and international visitors. The program will first undertake pilot tests in two protected areas to determine large-scale viability.

Equatorial Guinea and representatives of the UNDP highlighted the importance of preservation of the natural environments to promote responsible tourism.

Equatorial Guinea has a robust tourism sector and has hosted international conferences, delegations, and sporting events at its world-class facilities. The expansion of tourism opportunities in Equatorial Guinea will further expand the large sector.

Equatorial Guinea was elected to the Executive Board of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 2017.
