Equatorial Guinea Calls for Transformation of African Economies, Hosts Council of Ministers of the Central African Economic Union

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea called for the development and transformation of African economies as it hosted the 33rdOrdinary Session of the Council of Ministers of the Central African Economic Union (UEAC).

Equatorial Guinea highlighted the need for deepening regional integration and sustainable development for the transformation of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) countries. 

High-level officials from CEMAC countries discussed the budgets of economic institutions focused on development, as well as a working framework for the agencies focused on economic transformation in within the UEAC.

Equatorial Guinea is strongly committed sustainable development under the country’s Horizon 2020 program. In line with the Goals, Equatorial Guinea has made great strides over the years, including major reductions in the risk of maternal and infant mortality; free health service and drugs for youth and the elderly; the implementation of progressive gender equality policies; and electricity and sanitation for all citizens.

The Session was held at the Sipopo Conference Center in Malabo, the state-of-the-art facility that has hosted numerous international gatherings, including the African Union (AU) Summit and the Africa-Arab Economic Forum, to name just a few.
