The Secret Forest, filmed entirely in Equatorial Guinea, showcases the unique fauna and flora of the country, some of which cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
The documentary, produced by the nongovernmental organization ECOGUINEA in 2015, recently received international praise for highlighting environmental awareness in Equatorial Guinea.
The film has won several festivals all over the world, including the unanimously awarded Grand Prize at the Ronda-Madrid-Málaga International Scientific Filk Biennial of AESIC, as well as Best Animated Documentary and Best Cinematography at the International Film Festival Solidario KO & Digital Sant Sadurní d’Anoia in Barcelona.
Jurists praised the film for its technical quality, script, and art, as well as the traditional African methods used to tell the story of nature conservancy.
It will be screened at more film festivals to raise awareness, including those in Peru, Mozambique, and Germany, among others, as well as shown on local television in Equatorial Guinea.
ECOGUINEA plans to show the documentary film in schools and institutions in Equatorial Guinea to raise ecological awareness of the importance of conservation in protected areas.
