The Republic of Equatorial Guinea recently attended the Regional Interparliamentary Seminar on the Promotion of Nutrition for the Mother and Child in Western and Central Africa.
Officials from the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) represented Equatorial Guinea at the Seminar.
The officials focused on the importance of nutritional security for economic and social development; the extremely high levels of malnutrition and emergence of obesity; the elimination of structural and contextual obstacles in regards to nutritional prevention; and the political commitment necessary to make progress in regards to nutrition and overall health.
Equatorial Guinea has made significant strides in social welfare, including health and nutrition, over recent years. The Government of Equatorial Guinea has invested its resources in building state-of-the-art health facilities and nutritional access programs.
The Seminar, organized by the Interparliamentary Union (UIP) and the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), took place in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
