The Republic of Equatorial Guinea, through the Permanent Ambassador and Representative of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea to the United Nations (UN), Anatolio Ndong Mba, reaffirmed its condemnation of the use of weapons of mass destruction at the UN.
The Ambassador strongly emphasized the Government of Equatorial Guinea’s, lead by HE Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, rejection to everything related to the manufacturing and use of weapons of mass destruction as they pose a grave danger to human existence.
The Ambassador also clearly highlighted the importance of achieving universal adherence to the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.
The Ambassador expressed concern that the UN disarmament committee failed to reached a consensus since 1999, and conveyed hope that the UN can now reach a positive conclusion to this important aspect of international peace and security.
The discussion took place at the United Nations Security Council, of which Equatorial Guinea is a new non-permanent member for the next two years.
Equatorial Guinea has been active at the UN Security Council since beginning its term just weeks ago.
