Equatorial Guinea and Mozambique Strengthen Bilateral Energy Relations, Set to Cooperate on Mining and Natural Gas

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons, HE Gabriel Mbaga Obiang Lima, this strengthened bilateral energy relations and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on mining and natural gas with his counterpart from Mozambique, HE Ernesto Max Elias Tonela.

The MoU is the latest in a series of energy agreements set to strengthen bilateral relations with Equatorial Guinea and other African countries.

Equatorial Guinea, in the MoU, agreed to the exchange of information, knowledge and experience in regards to petroleum and mining policy. Equatorial Guinea will share its vast technical assistance and advice on natural gas monetization and infrastructure building with Mozambique.

In return, Equatorial Guinea will receive from Mozambique assistance in the development of its mining sector.

The Minister also met with the Directors of the National Institute of Petroleum and the National Institute of Mines while in Mozambique, as well the Chairman and CEO of the National Hydrocarbons Company.


Equatorial Guinea and Mozambique enjoy strong bilateral relations in regards to energy. Equatorial Guinea is committed to sustainable energy development and knowledge sharing on the African continent.
