The Republic of Equatorial Guinea is set to establish a free trade zone with the People’s Republic of China after meetings this week to outline the treaty between the two countries.
Equatorial Guinea highlighted that the free trade zone will further strengthen already close bilateral ties with China, and promote the freedom and ease of trade and investment, creating mutual gains for both countries.
Equatorial Guinea praised the President of China, HE Xi Jinping, for his support of the ten fundamental points of the China-Africa Forum for Cooperation (FOCAC), a forum that serves as a bridge between China and the African continent.
The President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, HE Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, is set to attend the upcoming III Summit of FOCAC Heads of State, which will take place in Beijing later in the year.
Equatorial Guinea and China enjoy strong bilateral relations, particularly in regards to education and cultural exchange, as well as commercial investment. The two have mutual areas of cooperation including tourism, good governance, sustainable development, and trade.
