Equatorial Guinea Supports Gender Equality, Human Rights in International Conflict Resolution

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea reiterated its support for gender equality and the promotion and protection of human rights in regards to international conflict resolution at the Economic Community of Central African States (CEEAC).

Equatorial Guinea highlighted the important role of women in the prevention and resolution of conflicts, and the consolidation of peace.

The CEEAC considered the Regional Plan of Action for Resolution 1325 of the United Nations (UN) Security Council.

Equatorial Guinea and the other member states agreed of the importance of equal participation in all efforts to maintain and promote pace, security, and the full participation of women.

Equatorial Guinea called on all member states to adopt a focus that guarantees gender equality, taking in to account the specific role of women during repatriation, reintegration, and reconstruction following a conflict.

Gender equality and the empowerment of women is one of Equatorial Guinea’s top priorities as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.


Equatorial Guinea is also focused on negotiations and dialogues for the peaceful resolution of armed conflicts; negotiations and dialogues on the reform of the Security Council; active participation in strategies to combat terrorism, illegal human trafficking, drug trafficking, organized and cross-border crime, endemic diseases and pandemics, extremism, xenophobia, racial discrimination and corruption; active defense of human rights; active participation in mitigating catastrophic effects of climate change; and active participation in the execution of the UN 2030 and African Union 2063 agendas, in parallel with their own Horizon 2020 national program.
