The Republic of Equatorial Guinea, through its Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simeón Esono Oyono Angue, further strengthened the country’s higher education in partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Equatorial Guinea highlighted the development of the Afro-American University of Oyala, which is set to open in the coming months with an information technology (IT) and communications technology training center, among other amenities.

UNESCO hailed the University as an important development for Equatorial Guinea, but also the region and whole of Africa.

Equatorial Guinea has a long history of promoting and investing in education, including the achievement of key milestones in literacy, improvement of education for all Equatoguineans by all international standards, as well as the recent recognition by the President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea of the UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea International Prizes for Research in Life Sciences.
