The Republic of Equatorial Guinea strengthened its aviation sector and offerings as the Committee of Minister from the Agency for Aerial Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA) approved the registration of the Mongomeyen Airport in Equatorial Guinea to its list of community airports.

Equatorial Guinea has continually invested in its aviation and transportation sectors. The Government recently expanded air travel though the reduction of the cost of airline tickets, and has improved the national aviation services through personnel training through international and sub-regional forums, hosting the third African Summit on Air Safety and Navigation, and active participation before the ICAO in Montreal, Canada.

The Government has also extensively trained pilots, air traffic controllers, mechanics, technicians, and engineers, in addition to reforming the General Law on Civil Aviation, creating the Accident Investigation Commission, and implementing a national program for aviation operation security.

ASECNA also approved the maintenance of aeronautical tariffs in 2019, the request for partnership with Australia, Canada, France, and Japan for space-based meteorological services, the registration of the San Pedro airport in the Ivory Coast, and the framework for Safety Auditing.

ASECNA also implemented the service for the Single Market for Air Transport in Africa, which was launched by the African Union (AU) earlier in the year.
