The Republic of Equatorial Guinea, through its Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Domingo Mituy Edjang, addressed and debated solutions for the conflicts in Afghanistan and the larger Central Asia region at the United Nations (UN) Security Council in New York.
Equatorial Guinea expressed strong support for achieving economic development, strengthening social cohesion, and improving living standard for the long-term success of peace and stability in Afghanistan and the larger region.
The Secretary of State also met with the Permanent Ambassador and Representative of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea to the United Nations, Anatolio Ndong Mba, and the staff of the Permanent Mission in New York.
The Equatorial Guinean diplomatic officials pledged to work together in coordination and solidarity to achieve the goals of Equatorial Guinea at the UN.

Equatorial officially joined the UN Security Council in early January as a non-permanent member for the 2018-2019 term. The formalizing of Equatorial Guinea’s membership was the placement of the flag of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea in the hall of access to the Security Council by the Equatorial Guinea Ambassador.
