Equatorial Guinea Signs Defense Agreement with Angola, Further Strengthens Bilateral Ties

The Republican of Equatorial Guinea signed a cooperation agreement focused on defense with the Republic of Angola, further strengthening their already robust bilateral ties.

The agreement, entered within the framework of South-South Cooperation and designed with the aims and principles of the United Nations (UN) Charter and the Constitutional Act of the African Union (AU), is focused on guaranteeing peace, security, and stability of the two African countries.

The agreement also outlined areas of mutual cooperation, including the exchange of information regarding oil policy, Government oil derivative programs, distribution and potential markets, and the identification of joint projects between Equatorial Guinea and Angola and also third parties.


Equatorial Guinea and Angola enjoy strong bilateral ties in the areas of health and security. The two countries are also members of the United Nations Security Council and the Community of Portuguese Language Countries.
