Equatorial Guinea Continues to Strengthen Energy Industry with International Gas Conference

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea, through the President of the Republic, HE Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, continued to strengthen the country’s energy industry as it’s set to open the International Gas Conference in Sipopo.

The Conference, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons, CWC Group, and SONAGAS, attracts high-level energy industry officials from all over the world.

Equatorial Guinea has signed a number of agreements regarding energy in recent years, including with Ghana, Burkina Faso, Chad, and Nigeria to export natural gas and LNG.

Equatorial Guinea recently launched the Year of Energy initiative at the III annual Africa Oil and Power (AOP) conference. 

Equatorial Guinea has a strong energy industry, and developed new investment opportunities at the II AOP conference, in addition to new partnerships with Cameroon.

Equatorial Guinea is a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and is Sub-Saharan Africa’s third-largest oil and gas producer.

In 2017, Equatorial Guinea invested its resources in key infrastructure works to spur the country’s economy, including a new headquarters for Exxon Mobil.
